Thee fifth of November

A friend's boyfriend lives in Brighton and suggested we went to Lewes (A town near Brighton) to see the fireworks this year. Being the biggest fireworks display in the UK, I weren't going to turn it down. We arrived at Brighton train station to find two hour queues just waiting for a train. With no taxis going into the town, we had no choice but to get the train. (We didn't wait 2 hours for the train, not even half hour in the end). Arriving at the other side, I can defiantly say I have never seen so many people in one place on the fifth of November. The town is beautiful very traditional with a massive feel for heritage; and the atmosphere was amazing. We walked upto the main street to find seven bonfire societies which belong to the town, parading up and down; all dressed up, holding flaming torches, dancing, throwing bangers, singing, instruments playing. It was the kind of place you dreaded going to as a kid, being dragged to with your parents, but really appreciate now!
We had the decision of a few different displays around the town as each society were doing their own, but we found ourselves following the crowd and ending up on a hill. At the top we could see all four displays. It was the most amazing sight I have ever seen. Filled with content and generally happy, it was the best night I have had in a long time.
