I have attempted blogs since I went to New Zealand at Christmas, but kept on deleting, worried at the readers reaction, and if what I was blogging was even worth writing. But since this documentation is not only for my piece of mind, and help for 'creative' writing, I have also been asked to create a visual library along side my uni work; seeing as blogs are the new fad, I thought I'd swallow my pride...
I begin now in my new front room, and one of the 6 films I bought yesterday, which happens to be one of my favorite.
Closer
Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman & Clive Owen.
Not only are the above amazing in their own ways, (ohh look at me I love mainstream actors) but I defiantly have a healthy obsession with Natalie Portman after watching this film after so long.
"It's a lie. It's a bunch of sad strangers photographed beautifully, and... all the glittering assholes who appreciate art say it's beautiful 'cause that's what they wanna see. But the people in the photos are sad, and alone... But the pictures make the world seem beautiful, so... the exhibition is reassuring which makes it a lie, and everyone loves a big fat lie."
I don't have a specific reason why I like this film so much; I think its to do with the crudeness and accurate yet coincidental situations that are happening through out the film, jumping from present to near future.
From the very beginning when Damien Rice sings Blowers daughter I seem to get this sense of nostalgia.
I strongly advise you to not only watch it this film, but purchase it! (HMV £3). I would be very interested in your views and opinions of the film.
