December 29th, BBC2, Rolf Harris, an Australian singer, song-writer, tv personality and artist painted model Lily Cole, Jagger daughter Lizzie, Eastender's Zah Zah Emer Kenny and tv star Dervla Kirwan in the style of Shakespeare's summer night's dream.

Only having seen his cartoon sketches, including an album cover which was drawn for my dad's band, I was amazed by the time, effort and quality of these over 6ft canvas'!

'Top Gear' presenter James May is to become the new face of London Pride, fronting a new television campaign for the Fuller's ale.

James May: fronts latest London Pride campaign

The integrated television, outdoor and online campaign, created by DCH and planned and bought by MEC, launches on 12 October.

In the TV campaign, May steps out of the house and walks to his local pub. Appearing to have pre-empted May’s arrival, the barman places a pint of London Pride in front of him.

May says to camera:" This is the one thing I’ll walk somewhere for." The camera cuts to a close-up of a pint of London Pride on the bar. May is then heard to say in the background: "I think I’ve got a blister." Next to the pint, the line: "Whatever you do take pride" fades up.

May famously refuses to run on camera during 'Top Gear' challenges, preferring to walk, much to the annoyance of his fellow presenters.

He is also a famous ale drinker, so much so that his co-presenter Jeremy Clarkson has stated that May, "eats pastry, drinks brown beer and thinks a curry is exotic."

John Roberts, managing director of the Fuller’s Beer Company, said: "James May is a great ambassador for London Pride. As a seasoned beer drinker, he recognises the quality and craftsmanship that goes into the creation of London Pride.

"We’re confident James will help us bring a British classic to a whole new audience through our new campaign, which draws on James’ trademark humour and love of a good pint of Pride."

The outdoor executions also feature the Fuller’s London Pride tag line: "Whatever you do take pride", which was created by DCH in 1995.

May is pictured in a series of comical poses with his pint of London Pride and each execution features a headline drawing on his sense of humour, such as: ‘Apparently, this comes in half-pints too if you’re that way inclined’; ‘A swift one? That would just be rude’, and ‘A great example of British craftsmanship, and I’m about to make it disappear.’

The activity will also include a dedicated London Pride Facebook page where users can post regular updates linking in to other campaign elements.

It also features an online tour of the 350-year-old, family-owned Fuller’s brewery in Chiswick, fronted by May, as well as a pub quiz with the chance to win monthly prizes and a tutored beer-tasting with Fuller’s head brewer, John Keeling.

Andrew Hawkins, managing director at DCH, said: "James May and Fuller’s London Pride are the perfect marriage. James’ passion and fascination with British craftsmanship, and genuine appreciation of London Pride meant he was the only option – we simply wouldn’t have gone to any other celebrities if he had not agreed.

"They share essential values: integrity, modesty, discernment, quality, wit and quintessential Britishness. The campaign has been built on genuine principles. All this adds up to a pint that is brewed, kept and served with the utmost integrity, being promoted by a man whose integrity is unquestioned."

First collections being from S/S 11 shows, men will be able to access designers such as Burberry, Ralph Lauren Yves Saint Lauren and Dunhill, as well as getting style advice.

This Delorean model isn’t a Transformer, but it is more than meets the eye. Packed inside its chassis is a 500GB Seagate hard drive, so when friends and co-workers make fun of the toy on your desk, you can take solace in the fact that it serves a utility — a utility aside from being awesome, of course.

The model is a 1:18 replica of the iconic Delorean time machine from Back to the Future. It took four years of engineering by Flash Rods and, like the real life Delorean, the shell is made from stainless steel.

As you can see in the image above, the doors and hood swing open for realism. Unfortunately, Mr. Fusion and the flux capacitor are not functional, most likely for safety purposes.

The Flash Rods Delorean Time Machine Hard Drive is on sale now for $250. Whether it’s worth the going rate is debatable, but at least one thing is certain: You’re not likely to find an external hard drive more appropriate for use with the OS X Time Machine.

Yes, I know this is months late but I wanted to reiterate how 'the fashion system' should be. Availability and accessibility is what I hate about the industry; has become too much - I appreciate his reasoning and beliefs behind what he does.

Tom Ford launched his first women's wear collection in six years; this season, in New York. No cameras, note pads were allowed and only specific people were invited. The collection wasn't blogged, face booked, talked about in press - Nothing was leaked or seen by the outside circle of fashion until it was sold in store.

“I do not understand everyone’s need to see everything online the day after a show,” he says. “I don’t think it ultimately serves the customer, which is the whole point of my business—not to serve journalists or the fashion system. To put something out that’s going to be in a store in six months, and to see it on a starlet, ranked in US magazine next week? My customer doesn’t want to wear the same thing she saw on a starlet!”

The "old skinhead from High Wycombe" presents his new exhibition and T-shirt in collaboration with 55DSL

Having picked up a camera in his tender teenage years, it was only natural for photographer Gavin Watson to turn it towards what happened all around him; family, friends and heroes. Now, looking back at those days - with the help of55DSL who's asked him to curate an exhibition of his work - Watson has dug up photographs, some unseen, of his childhood, musicians and other elements of the sub cultural skinhead movement of those days. The name of the exhibition, Neville, is a reference to Watson's brother and his muse at the time. This is another great opportunity to see a well dressed and culturally pivotal fashion and music scene, shot by someone who not only documented it, but also lived it.

Dazed Digital: How did you aim to capture the mood of the 'skins and punks'?
Gavin Watson: The answer to that is I didn't. I was 15 years old and photographing my mates and my brother, it was the subject that surrounded me and just so happened to be on my door step. Skins and Punks was not a subject that I intentionally set out to photograph, it was my life. The images I created were down to me being a fast worker, I kept things very simple using the one camera and film, this is very much the way I still work today.

DD: What do you think is the noticeable red thread running through your photography? If you feel it is a 'style' as such?
Gavin Watson: I don't actually think I have a particular style, well I haven't consciously set out to have one anyway, although I do know other people think I do, they can look at my work and know it's a Gavin Watson. For me its more about looking through the lens and if it looks good I take it, I'm generally just happy when they are in focus (laughs), but to be honest, sometimes it's OK with me if they are a not, they don't always have to be perfect, maybe that's part of my style. As I said I like to keep things very simple, I work with one camera at a time and still use film. I don't like using a zoom lens, I prefer to move around a lot instead, this is the way i worked when i was 15 and i still do now. I do think my pictures have a certain energy within them, they actually look like real people rather that just figures.

DD: How did the influence of your brother affect you as you were growing up?
Gavin Watson: Nev was everything I wasn't; out going, popular, cool and the girls loved him. He was my muse and the most famous unfamous person I have ever known, everyone loved him. He never minded being in front of the camera he was bit of poser as all skinheads are. Back then it was all about the dress up, whether he was a skinhead or a raver he always looked the part and that's kind what made him such a good subject, although I never thought about that at the time, I had to get to my 40's before I realised this. There came a point though for the sake of our relationship, where we both needed some time out to go and do our own thing which is what we did, although Nev continued to be a huge influence in my life - that's what this exhibition 'Neville' is all about and I really hope that comes across.

DD: What are you working on now?
Gavin Watson: At the moment my latest show 'Neville', that's taken up a bit of time delving into the past. The show came about after 55DSL approached me about doing a T-shirt with them, the image I chose to go on the T-shirt came to be the basis of this whole show, which is brilliant. I am also working on a Gavin Watson iphone app which just came out of the blue actually. It's going to have my 50 most iconic images, many of which are unseen, these are going to be there to download for screen savers or whatever. I am also working on a new book of all my music photography from the mid 1980's which a lot of people don't really know much about. It features the likes of Morrissey and Madness and I'm going to be taking some of this imagery to shows around Europe, it's all go! Oh, and I have just been asked to open a new gallery in Oslo, I still wonder why I get asked to do these things, I am just an old skinhead from High Wycombe...

Exhibit of Modular Lighting Instruments at Interieur 2010, the 22nd International Design Biennale that took place October 15 – 24 at Kortrijk Xpo venue in Kortrijk, Belgium .

In a colourful and fun human-scale pinball machine, completely lit by LED lights, Modular introduced its latest LED ceiling lights, Spock and O’Leaf, for the first time to the general public.

The playing field of the game was divided into the same sections as the Modular lighting catalogue: Orientation, Accent, General and Dynamic making it easy for the “players”-- potential specifiers and buyers of the new lights – to pay attention to the lights, and not just the fun surroundings. Apparently, this energy-efficient exhibit used 70 % less energy than the company’s 2008 exhibit at the same event.

Bugsy Malone 1976

A gangster movie where all the gangsters are children. Instead of real bullets they use "splurge guns" that cover the victim in cream. The story tells of the rise of "Bugsy Malone" and the battle for power between "Fat Sam" and "Dandy Dan".

Wednesday I attended my weekly dose of a painful contextual studies.

I have been put into the 'Music and culture' class in which this week we discussed a few subjects including; music becoming mainstream and therefore selling out. DWe discussed different types of music; the most interesting being hip-hop. A very unusual statement for me considering I know nothing about that particular genre of music; but, because of that lecture I can see myself steering to answer the essay question that involves it.

I received a rush of nostalgia after watching 'Wild style'.

In the summer of 2006 my best friend Adam and I would spend days rewinding parts of the film 'Breakin' to find the best dressed/dancing/looking people in the background of the break dancing scenes, pause the video, and start pissing ourselves. The occasional imitation was made also which made it even more funnier.

The beach scene seemed to be a favorite of ours

My mate George had been going on about this film for weeks and was surprised that I haven't seen or even heard of it before.

We have very similar tastes in humor and film amongst many other elements of day to day life, so I trusted her judgement and bought it. I would describe it as a 'Greece spoof". Bloody brilliant!

London fashion week.

I wish I cared enough about fashion to blog my life away comparing New York's week to London's and what not; funnily enough I have better things to do with my time.

Contradictory or not, I went to London and attended 3 days of it's fashion week.

Yes I am on a fashion based course, but this is not why I went.

My team and I have been assigned a project to create a magazine. Taking inspiration from publications, films and comedy sketches such as Private eye, Viz, Dennis the Pennis, The Sun newspaper, Brass eye and Monthy Python; we have decided to create a satirical, online, bi-annual magazine which everyone has been waiting for. Some features involve shows and parties we were invited to, but not gossiping about the ordinary things the fashion hungry would be. Tweeting/Blogging and overall documentation had been noted all week to deliver the background and humorous content that only the fashion outsiders would find funny.

This time last year I was in New Zealand.

I traveled the whole country; both islands in 3 weeks. 1 week in a camper van, the other 2 moving from hostel to hotels and holiday homes.

I had the best time. The country is beautiful but has more sheep than people. Fact.

After presenting our four trends for 2012 we were given a client to work with. The next brief was to come up with two advertising campaigns, produce our trends package and marketing report.

We were given Argos.

We all went speechless and our tutor laughed.

He knew what he had put us in for.

Cut a long story short (for now);

We came up with two advertising campaigns; Billboard adverts and a TV commercial.
We also produced a whole new concept for how to shop in Argos, changing it from a store to more of a pick up point.
The shop floor layout, logo and colour pallette were completely changed.
We also introduced touch screen catalouges which have a direct search bar, and pay point all in one.

A very stressful experience.

Samsung LED Sheep

I came across this the other day, and was highly amazed by it.

In March 2009 Samsung released a viral which advertised their LED TV range.

The concept was a rivalry between two farmers trying to prove who the best shepherd was.

The Baa-Studs go that one step further and use LED lights on their sheep and heard them into various shaped; including the Mona Lisa

The music is ironic and works really well with the feel the advert is creating; old Western movie and an electronic version of a waltz.

The only flaw to this campaign; The whole idea of a viral is that people are so taken back by it, watch it over and over, send to friends ect. questioning weather its real or not.

This advert is obvious that it isn't real.

This was posted on my facebook wall last week.

My initial reactions when seeing it on tele for the first time was 'Oh my god that is horrible'. Too freaky to watch so i turned it over.

I do not enjoy the advert in the slightest.

A company called BETC Euro RSCG have created this advert which has been named the most viewed online advert to date, and has achieved entry in the Guinness book of records. To be excact 45,166,109 views of various versions of the advert.

I believe that the 'Live young' strap line works very well with the benefits which drinking water (preferably Evian's) will do for you and your health.

"In a climate of crisis and general gloom this advert shows that it can play the role of a positive spur in a depressed market."

'2010 is going to be a good year'

I have just come back from seeing Sherlock Holmes. I weren't a bad film.

I have never really been a 'film fanatic' but I can appreciate one that is really good.

I'm looking forward to seeing these in 2010.

Alice in wonderland being my favorite Disney film

Johnny Depp being one of my fave actors (And main part in other fave films)

Tim Burton being my fave film director and artist. I have always been fond of his style. Nightmare before christmas being my number one best film.

Matt Lucas being my fave comedian and genious of british humor.

I am looking forward to the renouned twist of the tale.

I have very high expectations for this film. I hope they are reached.

March 5th is the first date I have entered a post in my diary.

The main reason that I am looking forward to seeing this film is down to my dad.

Being a huge fan of Previous films including mythical creatures such as the wolfman and vampires I

have been inspired to see this film.

I always receive a text from my dad when a full moon occurs saying 'beware thee moon' as he

believes (Like many others) that the moon has effects on acrime, suicide, mental illness, disasters, accidents, birthrates, fertility. Many studies have taken place but so far all theories have proven to be false.

Over 100 tests have been taken out on the following

-the homicide rate
-traffic accidents
-crisis calls to police or fire stations
-domestic violence
-births of babies
-suicide
-major disasters
-casino payout rates
-assassinations
-kidnappings
-aggression by professional hockey players
-violence in prisons
-psychiatric admissions [one study found admissions were lowest during a full moon]
-agitated behavior by nursing home residents
-assaults
-gunshot wounds
-stabbings
-emergency room admissions
-behavioral outbursts of psychologically challenged rural adults
-lycanthropy
-vampirism
-alcoholism
-sleep walking
-epilepsy

and none of them relate to any type of phase in the moon. So why do people still believe in lunar myths? It's all down to the media, traditions, and misconceptions.

Studying within marketing I have found myself analyzing adverts a lot. (Mostly subconsciously)

Having assigned myself that role in our previous (Argos) project, I seem to look into television commercials all the more

I found this and bloody enjoyed it.

However; Madness being one of my top five bands, this could be biased.

Or, should I be hating it for the pure rip off and extermination of the song?

Behind all of that, the strategies they have used to create the advert are spot on.

The song reflects the era; Baggy trousers by Madness which reached 3rd in the charts when it was released on the Absolutely album in 1980, which made it recognisable for all ages.

Everything from the outfits, enthusiasm and their little cockney voices are perfect. Cheesy and catchy. Horrid, but it gets ya!

I have never seen kids of this age moonstomp so well.

This man is a huge inspiration to me.

Growing up watching shooting stars is one of my greatest childhood memories, molding my sense of humor to be quite an unusual one.

I don't know many people who do like it, or even understand why it's funny, but I can't get enough of it.

This Christmas I treated myself to just that. AND, 'Vic Reeves' vast book of world knowledge'.

It's basically a book of his illustrations in alphabetical order. Absolute quality that makes no sense at all.

Highly enjoyable.

Considering this blog was intended to document my work process through out development, here is the beginning of my brief.

We were asked to get into a group and create a trend consultancy who would predict four trends for 2012.Even within a group of six, none of us were completely into 'fashion' itself, so we took it the opposite way and created a lifestyle consultancy which took inspiration from 'anything and everything'.

Here are the trends we came up with and a small explanation of as to how we got there.

Consultnacys USP:

Magpie trend concultancy aims to bring accurate predictions to a wide range of brands. Magpie works primarily as a brand consultancy and takes inspiration from anywhere and everywhere. We strive to be different from other trend consultancies by creating offbeat ideas that give the brand oppertunities to stand out from its competitors.

We create an accurate, clean, solid base, which allows you the freedom to play and bulid upon tailored to your own brands philosophy. Magpie presents trends int he simplest form, creating a new aesthetic breaking away from traditional trend consultancy books.

Mind Your Manners: It is essential for her majesty’s country to portray the correct etiquette during the Olympics of 2012. Taking inspiration from Beijing’s etiquette book of the 2008 Olympics and progressing from heritage trends of 2011, Mind Your Manners is a tongue and cheek play on Britain’s stereotype.

The images we have taken inspiration from are classically British, but with a saucy undertone. The trend will work particularly well for English brands who are prepared to have fun and not appear too serious.

Bespoke: As the country begins to recover, the consumer will be spending wisely and looking to shop as an experience. The Bespoke trend recognises that the individual does not always follow trends, but makes them. Brands need to cater to this and listen to what the customer wants. One size fits all no longer applies.

Developments in technology give consumers the power to buy what they want rather than what the brand tells them they should want. Shops will become more personal and there will be a rise in tailoring services.

The Bespoke trend can work for brands at either end of the ladder, in particular, designer, high-end street and vintage boutiques. This will be brands opportunity to put their stamp on every aspect of the shop and cater to exactly what their key market want.

Who’s to blame?: In a country of deceitful politicians and millions being spent on the Olympics during a recession, we look for a protagonist to lead the way.

Youth are exercising their freedom of speech in art and music movements all over the world. The world’s medias attention will be on England, giving artists a massive platform to exhibit themselves on.

Possible collaborations between brands and artists could benefit both as the brand can reach a new market and the artist’s work will be mass communicated.

Attack Of The Frones: Science and women are constantly evolving alongside each other. As stem cell research has developed and advances, sensationalist theories have emerged surrounding the idea of ‘froning’. Stem cells are pluri potent, which means they can be used to develop any organ with in the human body. ‘Froning’ is a theory that one day, people will be able to create an exact replica of oneself, frozen for when organs are needed.

Woman now have the ability to make extreme life choices and have gained power at work amongst all sections including fashion, media and corporate. We recognise that women’s empowerment will be a big trend during 2012 and have turned the idea on its head. What if women have too many choices and have become too powerful? Could this lead to an alien attack from the inside?

Although this trend is not to be taken literally, we cannot be naive to the fact that these are real possibilities. Creating a trend that is so abstract can let brands choose if they want to make a statement, or play it safe?

This was pitched to our tutors; we absolutely smashed it!

All four of them being in the industry themselves, none of them had a bad word to say about what we had produced.

(So chuffed and smug)

mens magazines triggered their interest in style, and the consumption of clothes, or vice versa.

Through researching I found this Levis advert which shot sales by 800% in the late 80's.

The model (Nick Kamen), released a one hit wonder single after the sucess of this campaign.

Having worked in set design for 3 years she started on work for record sleeves and band posters.

She was the creator for London's club KoKo.

Her first solo exhibition was hosted in Shoreditch which was called 'Inside I'm clapping'

The latest and biggest piece of work she has done is Little boot's album cover/website etc..

She has also designed t-shirts which have been sold in Urban Outfitters and on ASOS.com

It was nice to meet someone who has done work like this, who is still on your wavelength.
